Respiration is the oxidation of food substances with the release of energy in living cells.
Aerobic respiration is the oxidation of food substances in the presence of oxygen with the release of large amount of energy. Carbon dioxide and water are waste products.
Glucose+ oxygenàcarbon dioxide+ water+ large amount of energy
Energy consuming processes: synthesis of proteins from amino acid, building up of protoplasm for growth, cell division, muscular contractions, active transport, transmission of nerve impulses. Anaerobic respiration is the breakdown of food substances without oxygen and requires less energy than aerobic respiration.
Glucose àlactic acid(C3H6O3)+energy
Muscle cells respire anaerobically for short periods of time when there is a shortage of oxygen.only small amounts of energy is released.lactic acid produced.oxygen debt is the amount of oxygen required required to oxidise the lactic acid produced in the muscles.Lactic acid is transported to the liver and converted back into glucose when body is no longer short of oxy.Tissue respiration is the oxidation of organic food substances releasing energy carbon dioxide and water within the cell tissues of an organism.advantages of breathing in through the nose:-dust and foreign particles are trapped by the hairs in the nostrils as well as by the mucus on the mucous membrane.-Air is moistened and warmed .-harmful chemicals may be detected by sensory cells.Gland cells in epithelium secrete mucus to trap dust particles and bacteria.cilla help sweep these particles up the bronchitis and trachea into the pharynx.and are swallowed by oesophagus.lungs are adapted for efficient gaseous exchange:
-numerous alveoli in lugs provide large surface area.
-wall is one cell thick
-thin flim of moisture covers the surface of the alveolus.
-walls of alveoli are richly supplied with blood capillaries.flow of blood maintains concentration gradient.
When u inspire:
diaphragm contracts and flattens, external intercoastal muscles contact while intercoastal muscles relaxribs move outwards and upwards, volume of thoracic cavity increases.Air pressure in lungs causes them to expand to fill up enlarged space.Expansion of lungs cause air pressure to decrease.Atmospheric pressure is higher than pressure in lungs and air rushes in…

When u expire:
Diaphragm relaxes and arches upwards.
Internal intercoastal muscles contract while external intercoastal muscles relaxes.
Ribs moves downwards and inwards
Volume of thoracic cavity decreases
Lungs r compressed, air pressure inside increases as volume decreases
Air pressure within lungs is higher than atmospheric pressure.air is forced out.
Okay I give up.aarrgghhh.
Tmr going the bazzar thingy…it better be good cos I payed $10 for it.
Haixxx my money…:(
